Quilled Flowers and a Butterfly

kalanirmitee: paper quilling- quilling project- quilled flowers- quilled butterfly-quilling ideas

To create a paper quilled flowers, we need following material:
1. Paper base: Golden colour handmade paper. Size of paper is 5"/5"
2. Paper quilling strips: 3mm quilling strips ( shades of purple) are used to make flowers. For Butterfly: 3mm white colour quilling strips are used. 5mm black colour strip is used to make butterfly body.
3. white pearls as embellishment.

Quilling  Tools:
1. Slotted tool
2. Fine tipped tweezers
3. Scissors

Procedure: 
1. Flower: Make a basic closed coil. Shape the basic coil into Teadrop shape
( Pinch the basic shape at the one end using thumb and forefinger). Make a five petal flowers.
2. Butterfly: Wings of the butterfly are made by using wrapping technique. Glue the marquise shapes to form a rough petal shape. Glue a extra strip to the base and wrap it tightly around the rough petal shape. After wrapping, re-pinch the petal to form a required shape.

Paper Quilling is an art form that involves the use of strips of paper that are rolled, shaped, and glued together to create decorative designs.
The paper is rolled, looped, curled, twisted and otherwise manipulated to create shapes which make up designs to decorate greetings cards, pictures, boxes, eggs, and to make models, jewelry, mobiles etc. Quilling starts with rolling a strip of paper into a coil and then pinching the coil into shapes that can be glued together. 
There are advanced techniques and different sized paper that are used to create 3D miniatures, abstract art, and quilled flowers among many things.
